Real Deal Roundup

For those of you taking advantage of the great deals from CVS lately, they have added to the pot - a $4 off $20 coupon for free!  Just enter your CVS Extra Care card number (found on the back of your card) and email address, and they will send you the coupon in email!  This is a GREAT way to turn those freebie items into moneymakers!  Can you believe it? They pay you to take the items!

CLICK HERE to sign up for the coupon. (Thanks Becentsable!)

Thanks ya'll!

A friend of mine (thanks Jules!) shared this site with me on Facebook and I just had to share!  So far all of my deals have gotten you cheap or free food for yourself or other humans.  Now, with a click of a button, you can get free food and much needed care to a rescued animal!

Here’s how it works:

Each day, click on the purple “Click here to Give – it’s FREE” button.  Site sponsors pay for food and care by The Fund for Animals, the Petfinder foundation, North Shore Animal League, International Fund for Animal Welfare and other worthy animal rescue organizations.

Do this every day!  One click each day for a year will provide 200 bowls of food to hungry animals!  Remember to use your Outlook calendar tool to set a reminder, just like with the Instant Win games you should be playing!

CLICK HERE to go to the site, bookmark it, and click the button every day!

Thanks ya'll!

Sorry for the lack of posts as of late, hectic weekend.  I had intended to post about this week's grocery specials, but they weren't all that impressive and it's only a couple of days until the new specials are out.  That being said, I found out something wonderful today:

Beginning September 15th, Harris Teeter is offering SUPER DOUBLE COUPONS for a week!!

Super Double Coupons means that Harris Teeter will double a coupon up to $1.98 (regularly $0.99), up to 20 coupons per day!  This is the time that you should use up coupons between $1.50 to $1.98 off, because that will make your savings multiply!  I will find the best deals and post them early to help you plan your trip.

Also, had two money saving trips today:  CVS, total savings of $21.48 (paid $2.47!) and Lowes Foods, two weeks of groceries for $121.64, savings of $75.96!  Woo-hoo!  Brings my total savings to $329.24!

Thanks ya'll!

Ok, this one has a serious deadline...good for the next 1 hr 30 mins only.

Get $40 worth of Ed Hardy kids clothes for only $20!  This is a great deal, because they clothes are pretty expensive.

Here's what you have to do:

Sign up or Log In to Groupon. (if you don't have a Groupon account, that's a post for another day, just go HERE to sign up and trust me, it's worth it. I'll tell ya why later!)

Under Visit More Cities, choose Sioux Falls (don't worry, it's an online deal).  You can buy more than one to give as gifts!!

HURRY - this expires very soon! (thanks Good Deal Mama!)

Thanks ya'll!

A Few Tips

·      Some stores do not like to use coupons on travel sizes, even if the coupon has
no size restrictions. It is worth the try however, and you are totally in the right to
do it as the manufacturer will still reimburse the store for the price.

·         Please see the FAQ/Basics page on Totally Target for a good explanation of
Target's coupon policy as well as their price matching policy.

·         There are many more deals posted on larger sites such as Totally Target or
A Full Cup, these are just a sampling of what I think are the best deals available.

Thanks ya'll!

Here's another great magazine deal - Parents magazine.

Here's the Deal: Bestdealmagazines has a deal that gives you a one-year subscription for only $3.75! On the site the price shows up as $4.69 with free shipping.  Use the code WKLYSPEC at checkout to cut it down to $3.75.

Truth in Advertising: This is a monthly magazine with 12 issues per year. Also, there is a possibility for this deal to sell out or expire early due to enormous volume, so you must act FAST to get the offer.  This magazine tends to have lots of coupons!

CLICK HERE for the Parents magazine for $3.75 Real Deal! (thanks to WildforWags)

So today I made trips to 3 different stores to test my coupon theories!  Below is a summary of the trips because, as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

Trip 1: CVS

Items purchased: 6

Total price pre sales $45.24
Total discount due to advertised sales price $10.27
Total manufacturer's coupons $10.00
Total Out of Pocket (OOP) price $27.77
Left store with $14 ECB coupons
Net price of shop $13.77 with tax
Total savings $20.27

I did make a mistake on this trip by getting two bags of M&Ms which I had a coupon for, but failed to give the cashier the coupon! Major Score: one of the items purchased was a 60ct box of Huggies Snug and Dry diapers, normally $24.49, yet I got these plus 5 more items for only $13.77!

Trip 2: CVS (different store)

This was the fun one!  The young male cashier was in AWE of me when we were done.  IMPORTANT: this store had a machine in front where I scanned my ECB rewards card and it gave me two coupons of $3 off each on items I was already planning to buy!  That helped significantly.

Items purchased 23

Total price pre sales $84.27
Total discount due to advertised sales price $36.26
Total CVS coupons $6.00
Total manufacturer's coupons $24.70
Prior ECB coupons $14.00 (from trip 1 today)
Total Out of Pocket (OOP) price $6.21
Left store with $5.99 ECB coupons
Net price of shop $0.22 with tax
Total savings $80.96 THAT IS 96.07% SAVINGS

I made yet another mistake on this trip by getting an Airwick I-motion kit for $4.99 that did not match the coupon that I had.  I thought the coupon was for I-motion when it was actually for Freshmatic.  The mistake is that even after he told me, I forgot to tell him to take that product off, so it will be returned on my next trip. Major Score: there was a sale on Sobe drinks Buy one Get one Free, and I had (5) Buy one Get one Free coupons, so I scored a total of 10 Sobe drinks (normally $1.59 each) for...FREE.  That's right, all 10 of them!!

Trip 3: Walgreens

This was an unauthorized and unplanned trip, meaning I had no coupons and no shopping list.  Not good!

Items purchased: 6

Total price with advertised sales$20.96
Total discount Walgreens in-store coupon$1.82
Total manufacturer's coupons none
Total Out of Pocket (OOP) price $19.14
Left store with $9 register rewards coupons
Net price of shop $10.14 with tax
Total savings $1.82

Now this one might not seem too impressive since I didn't have coupons and didn't save that much, but consider what I purchased and how long it will last me: I got (3) 12-pk cans of Sunkist, (2) Mountain Dew 2L and a large Carmex Healing lotion.  The 12-pks gave back $5 RR, effectively making each 12-pk only $2.oo.  The lotion gave back $4 RR, making it only $0.99, and the 2L Mountain Dewa, only $0.88 each on special, gave me a free DVD rental from Redbox (which I redeemed tonight to get Clash of the Titans)! Major Score: enough canned drinks to last me several weeks, $9 in additional RR coupons and a free DVD rental to boot!

All this took me about 2 hours.  Would've taken less if I hadn't gotten lost in Thomasville...twice :-)  So, you could say that I made $51.53 an hour today!  How's that for proof!?!

Thanks ya'll!

A Few Tips

·      +UP rewards are Rite Aid’s newest program.  The +UP reward will print on the bottom of your receipt and can be used for most products.  You must register and receive a Wellness + rewards card, and make sure that your cashier scans the card first before every transaction.  Usually only one +UP transaction is allowed per Wellness card. If you plan carefully, you can use +UP from one transaction to entirely pay for your next transaction.  I normally buy all my products that will give me +UP first and then come back for another transaction later and pay with the +UP from the first transaction.  Please note that you cannot have more coupons than items, so plan accordingly or buy cheap “fillers” like chewing gum or individual toilet paper rolls.  Also be on the lookout for another savings opportunity called SCR – Single Check Rebate.  These work just like regular rebates.  You can register them online, but you should enter them all at one time only once a month.  A check will be cut for you to deposit in your bank.  Rite Aid also has Video Values  which is a site that you can watch short videos and earn additional coupons.  This is a great place to get money off purchase coupons.

·         The “Final Price” in this listing takes the +UP discount, even though you will not be using it during that transaction.  It reflects the net price of that item.

·
Most printable coupon sites will require that you download a “coupon printer” the first time you use them.  This is a safe download that simply tracks how many times you’ve printed.  Most coupons will allow you to print two copies (this is usually done by hitting the Back button on your browser and refreshing the page after the first copy prints).  If you have more than one computer in your house, it can sometimes be advantageous to print two copies on each computer.

·
Remember that you can repeat a deal depending on how many coupons you have unless there is a limit on the number of items you can purchase.  For example, Wheat thins for $0.99 and you know of a $1 off printable coupon – if you have 3 computers in your house, you could print 6 coupons and buy 6 boxes for free!  BUT, Rite Aid may have a restriction on the number of boxes you can buy at the $0.99 price, so be sure to look before you checkout.

·
There are many more deals posted on larger sites such as Madame Deals or A Full Cup, these are just a sampling of what I think are the best deals available.

·           Also remember that you can “stack” coupons when you have more than one type.  This means if you have a Rite Aid coupon, you can ALSO use a manufacturer’s coupon.  And, to avoid problems, always present your coupons in this order to the cashier: money off store coupons (ex. $4 off $20 purchase), Rite Aid store coupons, manufacturer coupons, then +UP rewards.

Thanks ya'll!

A Few Tips
·      ECB stands for Extra Care Bucks.  These are rewards that can be used like cash on future transactions.  You must register and receive a rewards card, and make sure that your cashier scans the card first before every transaction.  ECB will print out in the form of a coupon at the end of your transaction (you also receive a 2% bonus at the end of each quarter).  If you plan carefully, you can use ECB from one transaction to entirely pay for your next transaction.  I normally buy all my products that will give me ECB first and then come back for another transaction later and pay with the ECB from the first transaction.  Please note that you cannot have more coupons than items, so plan accordingly or buy cheap “fillers” like chewing gum or individual toilet paper rolls.

·         The “Final Price” in this listing takes the ECB discount, even though you will not be using it during that transaction.  It reflects the net price of that item.

·           Also remember that you can “stack” coupons when you have more than one type.  This means if you have a CVS coupon, you can ALSO use a manufacturer’s coupon.  And, to avoid problems, always present your coupons in this order to the cashier: money off store coupons (ex. $4 off $20 purchase), CVS store coupons, manufacturer coupons, then Extra Care Bucks.
